What is hospital waste?
Needles, syringes, surgical instruments, medical devices in contact with patients, laboratory cultures and any object that has touched human fluids or tissue.
Why should it concern us?
In contact with skin, eyes, mouth or air it can spread infection. It must be treated only at sites licensed by the Ministry of Environment — otherwise it endangers health and pollutes the environment.
How should it be stored?
In containers that meet WHO rules, in closed and secure areas. Any accidental contamination is disinfected immediately, and everything that touched the waste is treated as hazardous.
